Thai-Cambodian Border Committee Secretariat Begins Talks

MALAYSIA, Aug 4 (TNA) - The Thai delegation of the General Border Committee (GBC) secretariat has commenced discussions with their Cambodian counterparts in Malaysia.
The talks aim to finalize the framework and agenda for the upcoming Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee meeting scheduled for August 7.
The Thai GBC secretariat, led by the Director-General of the Department of Military Border Affairs and including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies, arrived in Malaysia yesterday.
The preparatory meetings between the Thai and Cambodian secretariat representatives are taking place from August 4-6 in Malaysia. These discussions precede the high-level GBC meeting on August 7, which serves as a bilateral military mechanism at the defense minister level.
General Natthapon Nakpanich, Acting Minister of Defence for Thailand, will lead the Thai delegation for the main meeting. The Cambodian delegation will be led by General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia.
Representatives from the United States, China, and Malaysia are expected to attend as observers.
General Natthapon addressed public concerns regarding the GBC negotiations, emphasizing that the delegation will act cautiously and with National Security Council approval at every stage. He urged the public to trust the delegation's knowledge, capability, responsibility, patriotism, and dedication to the national interest. -819 (TNA)
