Renowned Iranian painter Mahmoud Farshchian passes away

Tehran, IRNA – Renowned Iranian painter and educator, Mahmoud Farshchian, has passed away, according to an announcement by the Academy of Arts on Saturday.
Farshchian passed away at the age of 95 while hospitalized in the United States.
Majid Shah-Hosseini, Head of the Iranian Academy of Arts, described Farshchian as a legendary painter and an enduring figure of Iranian art, whose death has saddened the hearts of artists and cultural figures. Shah-Hosseini extended condolences over the passing of the deceased painter.
Mahmoud Farshchian, who was also a member of the Iranian Academy of Arts, was born in the historical city of Isfahan in 1930.
He was enrolled by his father in the workshop of Haj Mirza Agha Emami, a renowned traditional artist.
Farshchian later continued his studies at the Isfahan School of Fine Arts under Master Issa Bahadori.
Farshchian was the founder of a distinct style and school within the realm of Iranian painting. While remaining faithful to the authentic foundations of this traditional art, he expanded the possibilities of Persian painting through innovative techniques.
Fatemeh Mohajerani, the administration’s spokesperson, expressed her condolences on the death of Farshchian in a message, saying that his name and artistic legacy will forever remain in the history of Iranian art.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a separate message, also stated: “Farshchian was not only a master of one of the most refined Iranian traditional arts, but also a bridge between the past and present, vividly portraying Iran’s spiritual heritage and aesthetic culture before the eyes of the world.”
Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei also offered his condolences to Farshchian’s family and to the Iranian art community over his death.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also offered his condolences, describing Farshchian's loss as irreparable and a bitter blow to the refined art of Iran and the Islamic world.
