Larijani: I Will Sign A Security Agreement With Iraq

Baghdad / NINA/ -Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, arrived in Baghdad today on his first foreign trip since assuming office, carrying messages to be discussed in both Iraq and Lebanon.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported that Larijani began his visit by meeting with Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji, noting that his agenda is divided into two parts.
Larijani explained that the first part concerns Iraq, which he described as a “friendly country” with strong trade relations and a high level of cooperation with Iran, citing the Arbaeen pilgrimage as an example. He revealed that a security agreement between the two countries has been prepared and is set to be signed during this visit, stressing that “Iran’s approach in its regional relations is to prioritize the security of its people while also paying special attention to the security of its neighbors, unlike some countries that focus solely on their own security.”
The second part of the trip, Larijani said, will focus on Lebanon, which he described as “an important and influential country in West Asia,” pointing to the historical ties and shared cultural roots between the two nations. He emphasized that cooperation with the Lebanese government spans multiple fields, and that the visit will include discussions on current regional issues with officials in Beirut.
Larijani concluded by stating, “The messages we carry to Lebanon are clear. We believe that national unity is essential and must be preserved. Lebanon’s independence and expanding trade cooperation between our two countries remain priorities for us.”/ End
