FAS against state regulation of oil prices

MOSCOW, July 14 (Itar-Tass) - The RF Federal Antimonopoly Service
(FAS) is against the introduction of state regulation of prices ion the
oil market. "And if such proposals are made we will be the first to
object," FAS head Igor Artemyev told journalists on Monday commenting on
certain companies' claims that the antimonopoly legislation is aimed at
regulating prices.
Artemyev particularly noted that the antimonopoly legislation is "an
alternative to state regulation." "We are ready to create a working group
with the participation of oil workers and judges in order to explain the
new norms, including where and why monopolistically high prices are set,
if not everybody understands this," the FAS head noted.
