Senior Vietnamese Party official receives MIU Party delegation

Hanoi, September 5 (VNA) - Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Chairman of its Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac on September 4 received a delegation from the United Left Movement (MIU) Party of the Dominican Republic, led by its General Secretary José Miguel Mejía Abreu.
Trac warmly welcomed Miguel Mejía and the MIU Party's delegation back to Vietnam to attend celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).
He affirmed that Vietnam always remembers the solidarity, support and assistance of the people of the Dominican Republic, as well as the efforts of the MIU Party to connect and promote bilateral relations between the two countries.
Trac thanked Miguel Mejia and the MIU Party’s leadership for their important contributions in preserving the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the capital of Santo Domingo, a symbol of the good relationship between the people of the two countries and promoting the value of Ho Chi Minh's thought in the Dominican Republic.
Miguel Mejia expressed his honour and joy to return to visit and participate in two important celebrations of the Vietnamese people, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Vietnam (April 30) and the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day of Vietnam (September 2), and was moved to witness the historical values and cultural identity of the nation respected by the majority of the people and the young generation.
He expressed his admiration for the great achievements Vietnam has made in the struggle to protect independence, build and defend the Fatherland; and highly appreciated the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the revolutionary process over the past 80 years.
Miguel Mejia expressed his firm belief that Vietnam will successfully organise the 14th National Congress and effectively implement the newly adopted important strategic decisions, bringing the country into a new era of development.
Expressing his satisfaction with the positive development of the relationship between the two countries in recent times, Trac suggested that the two sides coordinate effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement for the period of 2023-2028 between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the MIU Party; promote the implementation of the results of the official visit to the Dominican Republic by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in November 2024, prioritise the launch of the Joint Committee mechanism to promote trade and investment, and effectively implement the Political Consultation mechanism between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
He also proposed increasing delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels through the Party, State, National Assembly channels and people-to-people exchanges; and continue to support and connect potential areas such as construction materials production, oil and gas exploitation, high technology, tourism, and agriculture./.
