KHABAROVSK, July 14 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian and Chinese military
exercise "Peace Mission-2009" involves from both sides 3,000 troops, 300
units of land military hardware and over 40 planes and helicopter
gunships, Itar-Tass learnt from head of the exercise from the Russian side
and deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Land Troops Alexander
Studenikin.
"Russia mustered for manoeuvres a landing-assault company of the 83rd
independent landing-assault brigade and a reinforced motorised battalion
of the Far Eastern Military District, the headquarters of the exercise and
the so-called headquarters under training from among officers of the Far
Eastern Military District," Studenikin said.
"The Russian Air Force is represented by 22 planes and helicopters,
including two military transports Il-76, five frontline bombers Su-24,
five diving bombers Su-25, five fighters Su-27 and five military transport
helicopters Mi-8," the deputy commander-in-chief added.
The history's second bilateral Russian-Chinese anti-terrorist exercise
"Peace Mission-2009" will be mounted in Russia and China between July 22
and 26. The first stage of the manoeuvres - military-political
consultations of the chiefs of General Staffs of the two countries - will
be held in Khabarovsk on July 22. The second and third stages - adoption
of a decision on launching an anti-terrorist operation as well as
practical actions of troops during the operation - will be held between
July 23 and 26 at the Taonian military proving ground in northeastern
China.
