Close cooperation of all states can help overcome crisis - Zubkov.

MUNICH, July 15 (Itar-Tass) - Only close cooperation of all countries can help overcome the aftermath of the global financial crisis, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said at the Petersburg Dialogue forum on Tuesday.

"Today we have a clear understanding that an 'autonomous' road is a
dead-end, and it can only aggravate the crisis, and moreover transfer it
into a more dangerous shape," said Zubkov, who is the chairman of the
forum's Russian coordinating committee.
According to the first deputy prime minister, "neither the USA, nor
China or Germany or Russia" can afford acting alone. "That is why we are
choosing another way - that of cooperation and mutual assistance, and not
in narrow, 'exclusive' formats, but in more efficient and authoritative
multilateral formats," he stressed.
Zubkov believes the present-day situation differs from the crisis of
the 1930s, "when every country in effect sought to settle its problems at
the expense of others".
According to Zubkov, Russian-German cooperation, and in particular the
Petersburg Dialogue forum can become a good example of such cooperation
aimed at reaching common goals. "Not least of all because the situation in
the European economy depends a lot on our countries," Zubkov stressed.
He reminded the audience that the task of the forum is to strengthen
relations between the two peoples, contribute to mutual understanding and
trust and maintain "a stably warm and favourable climate" in bilateral
relations at all levels.
The Petersburg Dialogue makes an invaluable contribution to the
development of relations and to mutual understanding at the level of civil
societies of Russia and Germany, he said.
Zubkov also emphasized the importance of the social component in
looking for ways out of the crisis. "The crisis has directly influenced
all sides in the life of the society, has made pressing rather diverse
problems, for example in the social sphere, in the sphere of education and
healthcare," he said.
This "human dimension" of the crisis attracts not enough attention as
of yet, and we speak more about stock indexes, he stressed. According to
Zubkov, these issues are no less important than purely economic matters.
