President of the Republic: Iraq Continues Its Efforts To Establish Balanced Regional And International Relations

Baghdad / NINA / President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid affirmed that Iraq continues to strengthen balanced and effective relations with its regional and international partners, based on the principles of peace, cooperation, and the rejection of war and conflict.

In Iraq’s address at the opening of the International Forum for Peace and Trust, held on Friday in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, the President noted that the world is facing an exceptionally critical moment that requires decisive and serious steps to end conflicts and alleviate the suffering of peoples.

Rashid stated that Iraq has endured decades of wars, conflicts, dictatorship, and terrorism, which inflicted heavy losses on the state and society. He stressed that Iraqis are now working to consolidate security and stability, improve economic and social conditions, support reconstruction efforts, and advance sustainable development goals.

He added that Iraq is committed to building balanced and active relations within its regional and global environment, especially in the Middle East, guided by the principles of dialogue and cooperation. He emphasized that Iraq has regained its pivotal role after years of isolation and now plays an active part in various international and UN organizations.

Addressing the Palestinian cause, the President said that the Palestinian people continue to face violence, killing, starvation, displacement, and the destruction of cities and homes before the eyes of the international community. He stressed that no genuine peace or stability can be achieved in the region without a just and comprehensive solution guaranteeing the Palestinian people their legitimate right to establish an independent state.

Rashid called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and urged serious action to restore stability in the region, stop ongoing Israeli assaults in Syria, Lebanon, Qatar, and Iran, and prevent the Middle East from sliding into a devastating war.

He also called for renewed diplomatic efforts between Iran and the international community to reach fair understandings that ensure the Iranian people's right to a dignified life. The President reaffirmed Iraq’s support for all international efforts aimed at ending the Russia–Ukraine war, stressing the importance of intensified dialogue to reach a settlement.

Rashid concluded that dialogue and engagement remain the best path to resolving regional and global disputes, noting that economic and environmental challenges require sincere cooperation based on solidarity, trust, and shared responsibility / End
