Big Efforts Paid to Gradual Development of Fisheries
Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- According to Minju Joson, the Ministry of Fisheries of the DPRK is pushing ahead with the work for the gradual qualitative development of the fisheries.
The ministry has ensured that the fishing stations on the east coast conduct the intensive fishing campaign for migratory fish by reducing the period of repair of fishing boats and making good preparations for fishing implements, and that fishing boats on the west coast go to the Cho Islet-Monggumpho fishing zones to wage mobile fishing operations.
The Mundok Fishery Station built high-performance fishing boats and seven fishing stations including the Kim Chaek Fishery Station turned 12 fishing boats into all-purpose fishing boats in the first quarter of the year.
The ministry has also made fish farming and pedigree units increase the production of fry and stock rivers, lakes and reservoirs with them.
Meanwhile, it has urged the fishery production units on the east coast to push ahead with the preparations for increasing the area of mussel cultivation, and the aquaculture production units put the cultivation and management of aquaculture on a scientific basis and increase the productivity per ship.
The ministry is pushing ahead with the remodeling project of the Soho Fishery Station, the overhaul repair of breakwater at the Kim Chaek Fishery Station and the construction of the seaweed combined processing plant at the Pupho Offshore Farm. -0-
