Grand Mosque Cooling System Maintains Optimal Temperatures for Millions of Worshippers

Makkah, July 06, 2026, SPA -- The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques continues to enhance the quality of services provided to visitors of the Grand Mosque through a state-of-the-art air conditioning system, one of the most advanced in the world.
The authority utilizes an integrated cooling system with an operational capacity of approximately 155,000 tons of refrigeration, ensuring temperatures remain between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius inside the Grand Mosque to provide the highest levels of comfort for worshippers during periods of high temperatures.
The system purifies air with up to 95% efficiency through advanced treatment and filtration technologies, helping maintain a clean and healthy environment throughout the Grand Mosque.
Covering approximately 1.5 million square meters, the cooling system serves the Grand Mosque’s prayer halls, courtyards, and other facilities, ensuring the even distribution of cooled air across all areas frequented by worshippers and pilgrims.
These efforts reflect the authority's commitment to adopting the latest technologies and engineering systems while enhancing its maintenance capabilities to accommodate the growing number of worshippers and deliver services that meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
