State Hydro-Meteorological Administration Marks Its 80th Anniversary
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- The State Hydro-Meteorological Administration in the DPRK celebrated its 80th founding anniversary.
The central meteorological observatory, founded in the days of nation-building, broadcasted the first historic weather forecast through Pyongyang radio and made contribution to the war victory by its responsible weather forecast activities even in the hard-fought war.
The proud 80-year-long history of the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration is shining more brilliantly thanks to the innovative successes of our era when a new turning point in socialist construction has been opened.
A commemorative meeting was held at the Central Youth Hall on July 9.
Present there were Kim Sung Du, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Jon Sung Guk, vice-premier of the Cabinet, officials concerned, and officials and employees of the administration.
Kim Sung Du conveyed a congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the scientists, technicians and officials of the administration.
The message highly praised all the forecasters, researchers and officials of the administration for having devoted themselves to implementing the Party's ideas and policies with a single mind of loyalty and patriotism and high specialist qualifications and contributed to the sustained development of the state and the promotion of the people's wellbeing.
