Saudi Arabia Joins Global Community in Marking International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms

   Jeddah, July 12, 2026, SPA -- Saudi Arabia is joining countries around the world today in marking the International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms, observed annually on July 12, under this year's theme "From Source to Impact: Protecting Land and Life from Sand and Dust Storms."
   The Kingdom's commitment is reflected through the Sand and Dust Storm Regional Center in Jeddah, established in 2022 as part of the Kingdom's environmental initiatives and operating under the National Center for Meteorology. The center is one of four global regional nodes within the World Meteorological Organization's Sand and Dust Storm Warning Advisory and Assessment System (SDS-WAS), serving as the node for GCC countries.
