Four people injured in gunfire in Ingushetia


NAZRAN, July 19 (Itar-Tass) -- Four people were injured as a result of
the gunfire at a private house in Ekazhevo, Ingushetia, a source in the
republican Interior Ministry said on Sunday.
"Among injured people are three women and commander of the republican
police commandoes Timur Ekazhev, who lives in the house," the source said
on Sunday.
The commander received a slight injury and returned fire to the
attackers. The injured people were hospitalized.

.Thunderstorm leaves Vladikavkaz without water supply.

VLADIKAVKAZ, July 19 (Itar-Tass) -- The thunderbolt left some
districts in Vladikavkaz without water supply. The emergency services were
planning to eliminate the aftermath of the natural disaster by midnight,
press secretary of the Vladikavkaz Mayor's Office Dmitry Reisikh told
Itar-Tass on Saturday.
On Saturday evening torrential rains, a thunderstorm and the hail hit
the North Ossetian capital. The thunderbolt has struck a tank tower. As a
result of the natural disaster several districts in Vladikavkaz remained
without the water supply.
"The emergency services reacted immediately to this emergency
situation, an as soon as the rains stopped they began eliminating the
aftermath of the natural disaster," Reisikh said.

.Dagestan delegation to pay friendly visit to Palestine.

MAKHACHKALA, July 19 (Itar-Tass) -- The delegation from the Russian
Republic of Dagestan headed by President Mukhu Aliyev will begin a
friendly visit to Palestine on Sunday.
"Last April the delegation of the Palestinian national administration
headed by Mahmoud Abbas visited Dagestan. The Palestinian leader invited
the Dagestani counterpart to pay a reciprocal visit to Palestine," the
press service of the Dagestani president told Itar-Tass. "I would like so
that our people would learn more about the Dagestani people and you would
visit the Palestinian land yourself," Mahmoud Abbas said.
During a 5-day visit in Palestine Mahmoud Abbas will receive the
delegation from the Russian southern region in Ramallah. The guests will
also visit Muslim and Orthodox shrines in Jerusalem and Yasser Arafat's
mausoleum. Other events are also scheduled, particularly the Dagestani
dance company "Lezginka" will give a concert in the Palestinian part of
Jerusalem.

.Endeavour astronauts complete first space walk ahead of schedule.

NEW YORK, July 19 (Itar-Tass) -- The astronauts from the U.S. space
shuttle Endeavour, which is docked to the International Space Station
(ISS), completed successfully the first space walk.
Astronauts David Wolf and Tim Kopra spent five hours and 32 minutes
instead of scheduled 6.5 hours during the first space walk of five
scheduled space walks. Space technicians have made the preparations to
move a platform for long-term experiments in the outer space from the
Endeavour cargo compartment to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's
Kibo laboratory.
Then a robotic arm will install the platform on the Kibo module.

.Sister killed, 4 injured in fire at Ingush police commander house.

NAZRAN, July 19 (Itar-Tass) -- A woman was killed and four people were
injured in the gunfire at a private house belonging to the commander of
the Ingush police commandoes in Ekazhevo, Ingushetia, on Saturday.
"The sister of the commander of the Ingush police commandoes, Timur
Ekazhev, died on the way to the hospital," a source in the republican law
enforcement agencies said on Sunday.
Ekazhev's wife and daughter, who were also inside the house at the
moment the fire was opened, were brought to the trauma injury ward of the
Ingush republican hospital. According to the doctors, the women are in
moderate-to-severe condition, but their lives are out of danger.
Timur Ekazhev and his son received light injuries.
Unidentified gunmen, who were driving a Lada Priora car, opened fire
at 23.20 Moscow time on Saturday from a grenade launcher and automatic
firearms at the private house, where Ekazhev lives.
A criminal case was instituted under several articles of the Criminal
Code (an attempted murder of a law enforcer, murder, the illegal storage
and carrying of weapons and ammunition," a source in the republican
prosecutor's office told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
