Acacia nilotica Blossom Season in Najran Supports Environment, Beekeepers

Najran, July 15, 2026, SPA -- The blossom season of the Acacia nilotica tree in Najran Region is one of the region's most important environmental and economic seasons for beekeepers. Its fragrant flowers and nutrient-rich fruits support bee colonies and help increase local income.
Acacia nilotica trees bloom from summer through mid-autumn. They grow on mountain slopes and valley banks at altitudes between 800 and 1,500 meters and reach heights of five to eight meters. The trees are resistant to drought and salinity and serve as an important source of grazing for camels and livestock.
Acacia nilotica honey is valued for its quality and health benefits, attracting beekeepers to Badr Al-Janoub Governorate during the flowering season. Parts of the tree are also used in traditional and industrial applications, including tanning. Its roots are boiled for purification and personal care purposes.
Environmental associations in the region, in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, are working to replant Acacia nilotica to enhance vegetation cover and combat desertification. The Najran Green Association has planted more than 125,000 Acacia nilotica trees in recent years and aims to reach 200,000 trees by 2030.
