Desert Hedgehog Sighted at Multiple Locations in Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve

   Rafha, July 19, 2026, SPA -- The desert hedgehog (Paraechinus aethiopicus) has been sighted at multiple locations within the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve, reflecting the diversity of wildlife and the success of efforts to protect ecosystems and enhance vegetation cover.
   The desert hedgehog is among the smallest hedgehog species, measuring between 14 and 28 centimeters in length and weighing between 250 and 500 grams. It is distinguished by its relatively large ears and the spines covering its back, which protect it from predators.
   The repeated sightings are a positive indicator of improved vegetation cover and habitat quality within the reserve. They also reflect the richness of biodiversity and the sustainability of national wildlife protection efforts.
