Indonesia aims to attract high end tourist through Bali marina project

Denpasar (ANTARA) - Indonesia aims to attract more high-spending international visitors to Bali by developing a marina at the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub in Benoa Port, as cruise and yacht tourism expands globally.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said the global cruise and yacht tourism market is growing about 7.5 percent annually.

“Domestic tourism continues to grow, but we also want international visitors, especially high-spending travelers seeking Bali’s nature, culture and shopping,” Yudhoyono said in Denpasar on Tuesday.

Attracting even a portion of these high-value visitors would generate significant economic benefits for the marina and Bali’s broader economy, he said.

“Some visitors do not stay for weeks or months; some remain for years. They continue spending on goods and services, creating sustained economic benefits,” Yudhoyono said.

The ministry is supporting the Benoa Port marina, which is scheduled for completion in 2028 to help attract more maritime tourists.

The marina will accommodate up to 188 yachts, including superyachts and megayachts, while the port will be expanded to handle five large cruise ships simultaneously.

The development will include modern water and electricity utilities, as well as advanced docking facilities equipped with the latest technology.

The surrounding port area will feature entertainment venues, shopping centers, green spaces and public areas designed to enhance the visitor experience.
