Indonesian cosmetics generate US$1.4 million in Philippine deals

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian cosmetics generated potential transactions of Rp26.35 billion (about US$1.4 million) at Cosmobeauté Philippines 2026, marking the industry's first participation in the exhibition, Indonesia's trade office in Manila said.

The transaction potential reflects strong Philippine market interest in Indonesian cosmetics, Indonesian Trade Attaché Rahayu Ningsih said in a statement Thursday.

“We are optimistic that quality Indonesian cosmetics will be welcomed and remain competitive in the Philippine market,” Rahayu said.

The Indonesian Pavilion showcased eight companies offering makeup, serums, body lotions, hair-care, baby-care and fragrance products, as well as essential oils.

The companies were selected through an open call and curation process conducted by the trade attaché's office and the Trade Ministry's Directorate of Manufactured Product Exports in March and April 2026.

Each Indonesian exhibitor received visits from at least 20 companies from the Philippines, Turkiye, Thailand, Taiwan, and South Korea, among other countries.

The companies used the exhibition to promote products, explore partnerships and discuss import and distribution opportunities in the Philippine market, Rahayu said.

Several exhibitors also received offers for contract manufacturing and original equipment manufacturing services from potential business partners, she said.

Indonesian products drew strong interest and were well received for their quality, Rahayu said, adding that the exhibition could further expand their acceptance.

The Philippines is a key Indonesian trading partner, ranking eighth among destinations for Indonesian exports and 21st among sources of imports in 2025.

Two-way trade reached US$12.02 billion in 2025, with Indonesian exports totaling US$10.22 billion and imports from the Philippines reaching US$1.80 billion.

Major Indonesian exports include vehicles and parts, mineral fuels, and animal and vegetable fats and oils. Indonesia held a 4.47 percent share of Philippine cosmetics imports under HS 3304, according to Trade Map data.

Rising awareness among Filipino consumers about skin care's importance for health and appearance is driving demand for beauty and skin-care products, Rahayu said.
