Exhibition Traces History of King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition

Makkah, August 12, 2026, SPA -- The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance held an introductory exhibition alongside the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Holy Quran.
Coinciding with the final rounds at the Grand Mosque, the exhibition traces the competition's journey since its inception, highlighting key milestones and its development over the decades.
The exhibition features photographs and historical statements by King Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, reflecting the commitment of the Kingdom's leadership to the Holy Quran and its memorizers.
The exhibition highlights the new phase the competition is experiencing in its current edition, most notably the introduction of a dedicated section for female participants.
A total of 334 male and female contestants representing 133 countries are taking part in the competition. The exhibition also showcases the significant increase in prize value, which has reached over SAR10 million in the current edition, with the number of winners rising to 50 contestants.
