Nine Fig Varieties Produce More Than 880 Tons Annually in Al-Jouf

Sakaka, August 13, 2026, SPA -- Al-Jouf Region is known for the diversity of its agricultural crops, benefiting from fertile soil and high-quality water. This has contributed to the variety of its seasonal fruit production, including figs, which are cultivated and produced on several farms across the region.
Director of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture’s office in Sakaka Aqab bin Mukhailif Al-Ruwaili said the region’s production of different fig varieties exceeds 880 tons annually.
He noted that the main varieties cultivated include Brown Turkey, Sultani, Baladi, Yellow Spanish, Ghanaian, Al-Obaid, French, Asali and Black Spanish, reflecting the diversity of agricultural practices in the region.
Fig cultivation is part of Al-Jouf’s diverse agricultural production, for which the region is renowned, supported by natural resources that have contributed to the successful cultivation of various fruit varieties, alongside farmers’ efforts to develop farming methods, care for crops, and improve production quality.
Figs are among the agricultural products contributing to the diversity of agricultural production in Al-Jouf and supporting the presence of locally grown fruits in markets, reflecting the region’s agricultural potential and the role of farmers in developing the agricultural sector.
