Anticipation Builds for Suhail Star to Signal End of Summer Heat

Arar, August 16, 2026, SPA -- Astronomy enthusiasts await the appearance of the Suhail Star, known as Canopus, one of the most prominent stars, signaling the beginning of the countdown to the end of summer heat and the gradual improvement of weather as autumn approaches.
Astronomy and Space Club member Mohammed Al-Hazimi explained that Suhail is the second-brightest star in the night sky and lies approximately 310 light-years from Earth.
He noted that Suhail's appearance has served as an important seasonal marker for Arabs since ancient times, signaling gradual changes in weather, shorter daylight hours, and the onset of cooler nighttime temperatures.
