Official: Over 654K tons of goods exported from Iran’s Mazandaran ports in four months

Sari, IRNA – The Head of the Transit and International Transport Department of Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization in Mazandaran Province reports a remarkable growth in exports, via its ports to surrounding Caspian Sea countries this year, so far.
Nahid Shahraminia announced on Monday that 654,731 tons of goods were exported from Mazandaran’s commercial ports in northern Iran to neighboring countries in the first four months of the Persian calendar year (roughly between March and July).
Referring to the growing trend of international transportation activities in Mazandaran, she stated that over 1,653,000 tons of goods were also imported through the province’s ports, an amount showing a 74 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
Accordingly, foreign transit of goods amounted to 108,000 tons, which indicates an increase of 211 percent compared to the same period last year, which she attributed to developing and facilitating transportation processes.
Shahraminia added that the continuation of monitoring and planning will provide desirable services to goods owners and transporters, saying that increasing import volume helps strengthen the flow of goods and support the province's economic activities.
The Special Economic Zone of Nowshahr Port, with modern equipment, has a suitable capacity for unloading and loading various goods and accepting commercial ships with a capacity of over 6,500 tons.
The General Directorate of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Mazandaran is located in Nowshahr, a department that also has jurisdiction over Fereydounkenar Port, which is considered the first private port in the north of the country in the wake of expanding trade with the countries bordering the Caspian Sea.
