Petronas Finalises Canadian LNG Project, Paves Way For CA$33 Bln In Private-Sector Investment - PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and its joint venture partners for successfully finalising the investment decision for Phase 2 of the Canadian LNG project in Kitimat, British Columbia.

This paves the way for CA$33 billion in private-sector investment, he said.

“This expansion is set to make LNG Canada one of the largest liquefied natural gas facilities in the world, while strengthening energy supplies to international markets.

“The national oil company’s ability to deliver large-scale energy projects with international partners also reflects confidence in Malaysia’s expertise and capabilities,” he said in a congratulatory post on social media platform X Wednesday.

The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for his support for Petronas.

“I look forward to meeting PM Carney and the Canadian delegation in the future to strengthen the bonds of friendship and expand Malaysia-Canada cooperation,” he said.
