Int'l Scientific Conference for Marking 80th Birthday of Kim Il Sung University Held

 Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- An international scientific conference for marking the 80th founding anniversary of Kim Il Sung University took place here.
Its opening ceremony was held at Kim Il Sung University on September 29.
Present there were Ri Yong Chol, minister of Education of the DPRK, officials, teachers and researchers of Kim Il Sung University, a Russian delegation led by Konstantin Mogilevski, vice-minister of Science and High Education, and other delegations and delegates of universities, scientific research institutes and organizations from different countries and a delegation of Korea University of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan.
Present on invitation were members of the diplomatic corps here.
Kim Sung Chan, president of Kim Il Sung University, made an opening address.
He expressed thanks to the close friends who visited the DPRK to significantly celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of Kim Il Sung University. And then he noted that the university has developed into a prestigious center for training talents and the highest seat of Juche-oriented science and education, recording the glorious history under the meticulous loving care of the peerlessly great men.
He declared the conference open, saying that it would contribute to deepening the friendly ties between Kim Il Sung University and universities and research institutes of different countries and to the development of science and education and social progress.
Minister of Education Ri Yong Chol made a congratulatory speech.
He expressed belief that the conference would serve as an important occasion for sharing and learning the successes made in the scientific researches and reenergizing exchange and cooperation among universities.
Then there were congratulatory speeches made by Konstantin Mogilevski, vice-minister of Science and High Education of the Russian Federation, Dmitri Pyshny, president of Novosibirsk State University, and Fang Fang, vice-president of Beijing University of China.
Congratulating the 80th founding anniversary of Kim Il Sung University, speakers said that the university has produced a large number of excellent talents to contribute to the development of the country while adhering to the line of socialist education under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The conference was held under the theme of "Development of science and education and social progress", divided into panels of socio-politics, economics, linguistics, mathematics and physics, biology and environmental protection, chemistry and material science and IT and automation engineering.
The speakers profoundly explained in their papers the academic achievements made in researches in various fields of social and natural sciences.
The conference closed on September 30.
A letter to respected Comrade Kim Jong Un from the participants in the international scientific conference was adopted at the closing ceremony.
Kim Il Sung University hosted a reception at Okryu Restaurant for the participants in the conference that evening.
Agreements and a letter of understanding on exchange and cooperation between Kim Il Sung University and universities of Russia, China and Belarus were signed during the conference. -0-
