Pyongyang University of Education, Reliable Teacher-training Institution

 Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- The teaching staff and students of Pyongyang University of Education No. 2 commemorate its 80th founding anniversary.
On October 1, 1946, President Kim Il Sung saw to it that a teacher-training institution was established to train educators of a new Korea. On November 2, 1947, he visited the university to clearly indicate the path to be followed by the university.
When the universal 11-year compulsory education was enforced and education entered a new stage, the President saw to it that the university was developed into a base for training secondary school teachers, alongside a campaign for improving the quality of education.
Chairman Kim Jong Il provided important guidelines for developing education, including the issue of training able teachers and improving the quality of education.
Under the wise leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who initiated a revolution in education in the new century, the university has turned into a teacher-training base, supported by a strong educational and scientific force and material and technical foundations, and successfully fulfilled its revolutionary duty in the struggle to glorify the country as an educational power and a talent power.
The university has fulfilled its mission and duty as a "pedigree farm" for education of the rising generation by pioneering hundreds of new teaching methods, writing textbooks and reference books and producing many academic holders and training educators with high ability and qualifications. -0-
