Iranian cinema shines in Rome with 10-film showcase

Vienna, IRNA – Iran’s cinema took the spotlight in Rome as 10 feature, short and documentary films were screened for audiences during a three-day program attended by filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts.

The Iranian Cinema Days was held from September 30 to October 2 at the Cinema House in Rome, presenting works from different genres with subtitles. Two directors also attended, joining post-screening discussions with audiences.

The opening day featured the short film Umbrella, followed by Orange Forest and Natour Dasht (Guardian of the Field).

On the second day, the documentary Isatis, focusing on the history and culture of the city and region of Yazd, was screened alongside the shorts Narrator and Captain Torres. The day concluded with God of War.

The final day moved to the main hall of Cinecittà, where Billboard received its world premiere. The social short Clavier followed, while Raha, previously honored at the Rome Film Festival, closed the program.

According to the schedule, several films will be screened in other Italian cities in the coming days, with their directors in attendance.

The program included meetings with Italian film distribution companies, aimed at presenting Iranian cinema’s capabilities and creating opportunities for cooperation among distributors, television networks and Iranian filmmakers.

The cultural affairs section of Iran’s embassy in Italy said strengthening ties between Iranian cinema and Italy’s film distribution and exhibition network was among the event’s goals.
