Foreign Minister meets Malaysian counterpart on sidelines of 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Oct. 4 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, on the sidelines of the 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
The two ministers highlighted the strong and growing ties between Bahrain and Malaysia and their shared commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation and coordination in areas of mutual interest.
Dr. Al Zayani congratulated Minister Haji Hassan on hosting the 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, held with the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and under the direction of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He wished Malaysia continued success in hosting the event and further progress and prosperity.
Minister Haji Hassan commended the steady development of bilateral ties and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation across various domains. He also commended the launch of the 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia and the efforts of Team Bahrain in organising the event, describing it as a reflection of the close ties between the two countries and their people. He further welcomed the opening of Bahrain’s Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, highlighting its role in advancing bilateral relations.
The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation under existing agreements and memoranda of
understanding and explored means to enhance political and diplomatic coordination, mutual support in international forums, and cooperation on regional and international security and stability.
The ministers also discussed regional developments, including the impact of threats to freedom and safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al Mandab on international trade, energy and food supplies, and the global economy.
Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Ambassador to Malaysia, was present.
