Bahrain Embassy participates in UK Labour Party Conference in Liverpool

Liverpool, Oct. 4 (BNA): Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps, and embassy diplomats participated in the UK Labour Party’s annual conference in Liverpool from September 27–30.
Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed met with senior British officials and MPs, including Ed Miliband, Foreign Secretary; Wes Streeting, Defence Secretary; and Stephen Kinnock, Minister of State for Wales. Discussions covered the Iranian attacks on Bahrain and other countries in the region, as well as the UK’s support for regional security, stability and freedom of navigation.
As part of Bahrain’s presidency of the GCC, the embassy hosted a discussion on UK-Gulf relations and regional developments following the Iranian attacks on several countries in the region, with a focus on protecting freedom of navigation and maritime security. The discussion was attended by Stephen Doughty, Minister of State in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; the ambassadors of the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait; and MP Alex Ballinger, alongside more than 100 political and diplomatic figures.
On the sidelines of the conference, the embassy also hosted the annual Arab Ambassadors’ Council reception in London, where participants discussed Arab-British ties, Gulf security, peace efforts and economic cooperation.
Minister Doughty reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to strengthening ties with the GCC and supporting diplomatic efforts toward peace and a two-state solution. Lord Sarwar highlighted the potential of a UK-GCC free trade agreement to expand trade, investment and economic cooperation.
