PM Stresses Importance of Iraq-EU Economic Relations and Investment Cooperation

Baghdad / NINA / - Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has stressed the importance of Iraqi-European relations, particularly in the economic sector and various investment fields.

A statement from his media office said that Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received European Union Ambassador to Iraq Clemens Semtner on Thursday.

The meeting discussed several issues, including the signing of a joint agreement between Iraq and the European Union in the field of investment, aimed at attracting more European investment to Iraq. The two sides also discussed the participation of European companies in this year’s Baghdad International Fair.

According to the statement, al-Zaidi underscored the importance of Iraqi-European relations, particularly in economic cooperation, diverse investment opportunities, banking cooperation, and strengthening trade.

The Prime Minister called on European companies to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in Iraq, highlighting the government’s investment facilitation measures, as well as the availability of skilled labour and raw materials for various industries. He noted that the Development Road project would help strengthen economic ties between East and West.

For his part, the EU ambassador congratulated al-Zaidi on the completion of the ministerial cabinet and praised the steps and policies adopted by the government in recent months, particularly economic reforms and efforts to strengthen partnerships with European countries following the Prime Minister’s successful visits to France and Germany. /End
