Malaysia Pledges To Remain Dependable Global Partner As UN Turns 81
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will continue to be a strong and dependable global partner that remains true to the values enshrined in the United Nations (UN) Charter, in tandem with the core principles of Malaysia MADANI.
In a statement in conjunction with the UN Day celebrations, the Foreign Ministry said that since its admission to the organisation on Sept 17, 1957, Malaysia has remained steadfast in upholding the principles of the UN Charter and in advancing its three pillars of peace and security, human rights, and development.
“Malaysia today joins the international community in celebrating the 81st anniversary of the establishment of the UN,” the statement said.
The ministry noted that Malaysia and the UN will commemorate 70 years of strong partnership in 2027 and this milestone reflects seven decades of dynamic collaboration, meaningful contributions, and a shared commitment to advancing common goals through multilateral cooperation.
The UN was officially established on Oct 24, 1945 following the ratification of the UN Charter, about four months after the United Nations Conference on International Organisation in San Francisco, where representatives from 50 countries gathered to seek world peace towards the end of the World War II.
