Russia's military training centre can be opened in Kyrgyzstan -pres.

BISHKEK, July 22 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's military training centre can
be created in southern Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev said
on Wednesday.

He ruled out that there is the talk about the opening of Russia's
military base in the republic's southern regions.
"This will not be a military base. It will have a bit different
status, it will be located near Osh or near Batken. However, this issue is
only being discussed," he said.
In case of opening such a centre, both Russian and Kyrgyz servicemen
will be able to undergo training there to give an effective response to
international terrorists if they penetrate the republic.
At present, Russia's air base is located in Kyrgyzstan's Kant 25
kilometres south of Bishkek. It is an aviation component of the CSTO rapid
deployment force.
