BEIJING, July 22 (Itar-Tass) - The fight against terrorism, including
the situation in Afghanistan and a possible terrorist threat to the
member-states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will top the agenda
of the upcoming military consultations between China and Russia in
Beijing, Zhang Zhaozhong, a military expert at the National Defense
University, was quoted by China Daily on Wednesday as saying.
The chief of Russia's General Staff, General Nikolai Makarov is
expected to visit China's capital on Thursday.
On Wednesday, he had consultations with his Chinese counterpart
General Chen Bingde ahead of Peace Mission 2009 drills.
China's military expert Peng Guangqian said Russian-Chinese drills are
not based on the cold war thinking any more. They have no concrete enemy
and focus on comprehensive security issues, including non-traditional
threats.
