PRESIDENT : TERRORISM STILL A THREAT
Cengkareng, July 23 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on all parties to remain vigilant at all times because terrorism was still a threat in Indonesia and the world.
At a function to dedicate PT Garuda Indonesia's new management office building at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng on Thursday, the president called on all parties not to be lax in maintaining security in their respective neighborhood.
"The government and private institutions, state enterprises, and all parties should not be compromising where security and safety measures are concerned," the president said.
He said security and preventive measures should be taken not only after acts of terrorism but at all times, especially at the entrances of every building.
PT Garuda Indonesia, the president said, should continue to maintain flight security and safety both in Indonesia and abroad.
The president said security checks should be conducted at all y entrances, corridors and catering services.
"Do not be compromising. There must be no tolerance for a slackening in aviation safety and security," the president said.
Citing an example, he said when people board a presidential plane at Halim Perdanakusuma airport, all their luggage should go through security checks.
Yudhoyono then expressed hope that following last Friday's bombings of the JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton hotels in the Mega Kuningan area in South Jakarta, the people of Indonesia would be more aware and united in fighting terrorism.
The president made the statements when dedicating PT Garuda Indonesia's new management office building at Soekarno-Hatta airport in Cengkareng.
The dedication of Garuda's new management building also marked the launch of the airline's new identity, in addition to the introduction of its new Boeing 737-800 NG and Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, the president then inspected the four-story building after signing a plaque on the dedication of the new office.
The former PT Garuda Indonesia management building was on Merdeka Selatan street in Central Jakarta, but it was later moved to the office area at Soekarno-Hatta international airport,
