Kyrgyzstan`s opposition candidate seeks to win presidency

BISHKEK, July 23 (Itar-Tass) - Candidate from Kyrgyzstan's united
opposition Alnazbek Atambayev has expressed confidence that his chances to
win the presidential race are high.
"I and my team should certainly win," he told reporters after the
voting at Bishkek's polling station on Thursday.
He did not rule out that the election returns can be forged and
another candidate can capture the victory. Nevertheless, the opposition
plans no large-scale protest actions.
"We would like everything to proceed calmly, peacefully and in
compliance with the law," he said.
Kyrgyzstan's presidential election is for the first time held on
workday. The polling stations will be opened until 20:00 local time. The
elections will be recognized valid, if over 50 percent of 2.7 million
eligible voters cast their ballots.
There are six candidates running for presidency, including Atambayev
and Incumbent President Kurmanbek Bakiyev.
