Exhibition features declassified Soviet A-bomb documents.
MOSCOW, July 24 (Itar-Tass) -- Declassified Soviet A-bomb documents
will highlight an exhibition that opens in Moscow on Friday and covers the
period from 1938 to 1949 when the Soviet Union tested its first nuclear
weapon at Semipalatinsk range.
"Several new documents were declassified for the exhibition related to
the construction of the first Soviet atomic bomb, design of closed cities,
as well as the "C" department that accumulated information from abroad,"
Alexei Litvin from the State Archive told Tass.
The documents include authentic reports of the Soviet intelligence
about the creation of a super bomb in the United States, as well as
reports of the head of the Soviet atomic project Lavrenty Beriya to Joseph
Stalin.
US archives provided a confidential memorandum of US President Garry
Truman that okayed the use of a nuclear bomb against Japan and pages from
his diary of 1945.
Several exhibits are directly linked to the first Soviet nuclear test
on August 29, 1949. Some documents disclose unknown details related to the
participation of German scientists and GULAG prisoners in the project.
Visitors will see a documentary of the test shot specifically for
Stalin. The film was classified for 45 years.
The exhibition will last until September 20.
.Russian student sentenced for ethnic hate.
MOSCOW, July 24 (Itar-Tass) -- A Russian student was conditionally
sentenced on Thursday for 2,5 years for instigating ethnic hate in
Internet.
Nikolai Yelezov, 20, a resident of Arkhangelsk, was found guilty of
placing "extremist statements" on his personal page in the world web in
2008.
"The materials contained negative assessments aimed at humiliating
certain national groups, insisted they were flawed and inferior and
claimed Russians and Jews were incompatible, and also called for extremist
actions. Yelezov placed the information and addressed it to a wide range
of people," the office of the prosecutor general said.
Vocational school student Yelezov was sentenced with an 18-month
probation and his Internet page was closed.
.Russia proposes panel to fight raider seizure of property.
MOSCOW, July 24 (Itar-Tass) -- Head of the Investigation Committee at
the office of the prosecutor general Alexander Bastrykin proposed on
Thursday to set up a special panel at the Russian government to fight
raider seizure of property.
"As the problem of corporate raids acquired a nationwide character we
believe it necessary to create a governmental panel to fight illegal
seizure of enterprises," he told a meeting of the anti-corruption council
at the Russian president.
"Analysis shows corporate raids are typical of major cities and
regional centers," he said adding the crimes were reported in Moscow, St.
Petersburg, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Chuvashia, Sverdlovsk, Astrakhan and
Amur regions.
Astrakhan property minister Nina Popova was involved in unlawful
seizure of property of the local fishing port worth over nine million
rubles, according to Bastrykin.
"Corporate raids have spread to other regions of late. Actually they
have become nationwide", he said adding it is difficult to investigate the
cases as raiders hire experienced lawyers and law firms.
Bastrykin proposed to make local regulators verify authenticity of
documents, as forged papers comprise the main instrument of raiders. They
fake the founding documents to seize enterprises. Bastrykin proposed to
institute criminal responsibility for registrars that enter unlawful data
and ownership titles.
He said at present his committee can investigate raider cases only if
they result in murder, violence or office abuse. Bastrykin proposed to
equate corporate raids to fraud thus bringing the cases within the
competence of his investigators.

of ordering to kill Deputy Director General of Ust-Ilimsk timber complex
Alexander Purtov in August 1996. Doroshok was detained in 2007.
