Bakiyev maintains strong lead in Kyrgyz pres election.

BISHKEK, July 24 (Itar-Tass) - Incumbent President Kurmanbek Bakiyev
maintains a strong lead in the presidential election in Kyrgyzstan held on
Thursday. According to the latest reports of the Central Electoral
Commission, a total of 1.225 million people cast their ballots in his
favour.
Under the Kyrgyz legislation, a candidate running for president wins
if he or she gets over half of the votes. In this case, it is 1.151
million ballots.
