SR 2 Billion Contract signed for 200 Schools
Riyadh, July 25, SPA -- Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al
Saud, the Minister of Education has signed a contract with China
Railway-15 Bureau Group for the establishment of 200 school buildings
in various cities and governorates of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at
a cost of SR 2 billion.
The Prince expressed his thanks to and appreciation of the Custodian
of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the
Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier for their generous support
for the educational sector in the Kingdom.
On his part, Deputy Minister of Education Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin
Muammar said during a meeting with officials of the Chinese Group
here today that the schools capacity stands at nearly 150,000
students, noting that the schools will receive students after the
execution of the contract, expected to be completed in 14 months.
He pointed out that the contract represents 6% of 3,500 projects
currently being implemented by the Ministry all over the Kingdom at a
total cost of SR 20 billion with an accommodating capacity of
1,700,000 students, adding that the Ministry of Education receives
nearly 80 school buildings monthly.
