.
MOSCOW, July 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
meets on Tuesday with the chief executive officer of Gaz de France (GDF)
Suez, Gerard Mestrallet, to discuss cooperation in the oil and gas sector,
European energy security, as well as relations between producers,
transiters and consumers of energy resources, the press service of the
Russian government reported.
Gaz de France Suez was set up in 2008 as a result of a merger of the
French company Gaz de France and Belgian Suez. Thirty-five percent of its
shares belong to the French state. At the present moment, the concern is
the biggest European buyer and seller of natural gas, the owner of the
most developed gas transmission system in Europe and the second biggest
European operator of underground gas storage facilities.
The company's net profit in 2008 amounted to about 6.5 billion euros.
The total amount of staffers exceeds 234,000 people.
Cooperation between Russia and Gaz de France began in 1976. Over this
period of time, the French concern received on long-term contracts over
300 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Yearly Gaz de France Suez buys
from the Russian Gazpromexport company up to 12 billion cubic meters of
gas.
Besides, GDF Suez cooperates with Russian energy companies in such
spheres as energy conservation at gas-consuming facilities, gas
conservation, scientific developments, construction, operation and
reconstruction of gas transmission facilities, training of specialists.
Projects in the sphere of the use of liquefied natural gas, including
in North America, are also a promising direction of cooperation.
.Tool bag dropped in space to fall back to Earth.
MOSCOW, July 28 (Itar-Tass) - Remains of a tool bag dropped by a NASA
astronaut during a space walk last year are expected to reach the surface
of the Earth on Tuesday.
Initially, this was expected on July 25, but then scientists
recalculated the date of a "mini-Apocalypses". However, specialists still
cannot say where exactly this can happen.
"Tools for work in outer space are made of special high-alloy steel,
that is why it is quite probable that some fragments will not burn in
Earth atmosphere, but will reach the Earth surface," a space industry
expert told Tass earlier. However, according to statistics, the
overwhelming majority of debris and space garbage burn as they enter the
atmosphere of our planet, the specialist reassured. So, it is expected
that the entire tool bag will burn up upon re-entry.
Endeavour astronaut Heide Stefanyshyn-Piper lost her grip on the tool
bag during a space walk on November 18, 2008. NASA reported then that the
backpack-sized bag was one of the biggest objects ever lost by astronauts
working in outer space.

which such a compromise is possible. They include fight against the
crisis, European integration, the build-up of strategic partnership with
