(KPL) The committee that is in the process of drafting a master plan for the Hin Nam Nor national forest reserve or national stone forest reserve, located in Baoulapha district, Khammouane province proposed that they apply to UNESCO to declare it a world heritage site.
The discussion was attended by the Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Mounkeo Oraboun, the Deputy Chairman of the National Tourism Authority, Mr Soukkaserm Phothisan, the Deputy Governor of Khammouane province, Mr Odai Soudaphone and the technical officials from international organizations for natural conservation.
This national forest reserve is found in the border areas of Laos and Vietnam and it is seamlessly linked to the Phong Gia- Be-Bang national park of Vietnam, a UNESCO declared world heritage site.
The recent discussion is a continuation of past meetings between the two neighbouring countries, held 1998 and 2003.
