Medvedev to talks to Tajik, Afghan,Pakistan heads in Dushanbe

MOSCOW, July 30 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on
Thursday is departing for Tajikistan on a working visit, after which he
will travel to Kyrgyzstan, Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko said.
"On July 30-31, Medvedev will make a working visit to Tajikistan at
the invitation of President Emomali Rakhmon to attend the official opening
ceremony for Sangtuda HPP-1," presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko noted.
The ceremony will be followed by the signing of the hydropower plant
acceptance act and the presentation of Russian and Tajik state awards to
its builders. Russian-Tajik top-level talks are scheduled, the aide said.
The leaders will examine the HPP and will also take part in a
symbolical tree planting ceremony at the HPP's turbine room.
It is also planned that Medvedev and Rakhmon will inspect an
optical-electronic station for the detection and identification of space
objects and visit its command post.
"In addition, during his stay in Tajikistan Medvedev will meet with
Presidents Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan and Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan
and will attend a quadripartite meeting with the participation of the
leaders of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan, after which they plan to
adopt a joint statement," Prikhodko said.
"The agenda of the talks to be held as a follow-up to the meeting
between the presidents of Russia, Afghanistan and Pakistan on the
sidelines of the SCO summit in Yekaterinburg on June 15 includes social
and economic cooperation in the region," he added.
After the end of the visit to Tajikistan on Friday, Medvedev will
leave for Kyrgyzstan for an informal meeting of the CSTO heads of state.
It will take place in the city of Cholpon-Ata, 250 kilometres from
Bishkek. The meeting will involve the leaders of Armenia, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and the president of
Belarus who did not attend the previous CSTO summit in Moscow, the
official said.
On Saturday, August 1, Medvedev will have separate talks with
Kyrgyzstan President Kurmanbek Bakiyev who will celebrate his 60th
birthday on that day.
