TURKEY, GEORGIA INK AGREEMENT TO BUILD ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION LINE
Ankara, July 30 (AzerTAc). Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz and Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri have signed an agreement on building 1,000-megawatt “Borchka-Meskhetian” electricity transmission line between the two countries.
Following the signing ceremony, Alexander Khetaguri said 130 kilometers of the line will be constructed in Turkey, while 25 kilometers in Georgia.
He said the line may be used for electricity import from Azerbaijan as well.
Yildiz said the line would cost about $140 million, adding each country would be responsible for the investment within its border.
He also added the construction was expected to be finished in 2012.
