Japan researchers make stem cell production much more effective

TOKYO, August 10 (Itar-Tass) -- A group of researchers from the
Japanese Kyoto University managed to make the production of stem cells by
20 times more effective. Tissues of various organs can be grown from stem
cells. Thanks to new technologies specialists headed by Pr. Shinya
Yamanaka could have received stem cells even from blood for the first
time, the Nature scientific journal said on Monday.
In the current research the experiments were made with skin tissues of
laboratory mice. The Japanese researchers succeeded to suppress a gene,
which impedes the cultivation of stem cells. As a result of the research
the stem cell production was made 20% effective, though earlier the
effective rate reached not more than 1-2%.
The specialists of the Kyoto University believe that this technology
can be used in the creation of human stem cells. For the first time the
new method made the cultivation of stem cells from the blood lymph
possible. This invention makes possible a more massive and non-painful
growth of human stem cells, which can be used for the regeneration of
various organs and tissues.
