Mitsui eyes energy projects in Russia`s Far East
KHABAROVSK, August 14 (Itar-Tass) -- Japan's Mitsui is eyeing several
energy projects in Russia's Far East and its President and CEO Shoei
Utsuda discussed the prospects with presidential envoy to the Far East
Viktor Ishayev on Thursday.
The projects in question include a wind farm on the Russky Island for
APEC summit in 2012, a refinery in Primorye territory, the East Siberia -
Pacific Ocean oil pipeline and Sakhalin-Vladivostok gas pipelines.
"The Japanese side is ready to participate with capital and
technologies in the construction of Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas
pipeline. We have good pipe-laying designs, as well as hydrocarbon
refining technologies," Utsuda was quoted as saying by Ishayev's press
service.
The press service said the Japanese side proposed to create a
consultative council on Far Eastern and Siberian issues in the framework
of the Council for foreign investments at the Russian government" as it
would promote further economic cooperation.
