Japan gives US$51,304 for building dispensary in Houaphanh

(KPL) The Government of Japan yesterday gave US$51,304 to the Lao government for the construction of a dispensary in Thamlaneua village, Viengthong district in Houaphanh province under her Grant Assistance Scheme for Grassroots Human Security Projects.
An agreement on this project was signed by Ambassador of Japan to Laos, Mr. Masaaki Miyashita, and Head of the Public Health Office of Viengthong district, Ms. Sienkham Phonpeangxay, in Vientiane Capital.
Mr. Masaaki said that when in operation, this dispensary would enable people in the vicinity to have access to medical
services.
The nearest hospital is 25 km away and it is difficult for the people to commute to this hospital, especially during the rainy season.
As this remote area does not have any electricity supply the Japanese government would provide green energy by means of a solar electrical system under Japan’s “Cool Earth Partnership”.
The Kounmisay Construction Company would start building this dispensary soon after the signing ceremony and the construction will take six months.
