Int'l forum discusses ways of development of situation in Korean

SEOUL, August 18 (Itar-Tass) -- Variants of development of the
situation in the Korean Peninsula are the main topic of the 10th jubilee
international forum which opened here on Tuesday.


The forum is annually
organized by the Korean Global Fund. This time its dominating thesis is
"New era of unified Korea and peace." More than 180 South Korean and
foreign scientists, journalists, diplomats, experts and public figures
take part in the forum.
The most heated debates were held around the fact what exactly changes
are needed to make the situation in the Korean Peninsula develop in the
interests of peace, integration and prosperity. President of the
Friendship Society Russia-Republic of Korea ITAR-TASS General Director
Vitaly Ignatenko addressed the forum. He told in detail about the role of
Russia in ensuring peace and security in the Korean Peninsula.
Much attention was paid at the forum to the search for a new strategy
and models of development of relations of two Koreas with account of
ideological differences which have been growing between us of late. This
fact hampers rapprochement of the North and the South, as well as a search
for ways of overcoming the accumulated obstacles.
