GABALA INT`L PIANO FESTIVAL FEATURING YOUNG PIANISTS COMPETITION

Baku, 20 August (AzerTAc). The First International Piano Festival in Gabala, Azerbaijan, founded by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, featured Young Pianists Competition. The final round of the competition took place on August 19 at the Caucasus Resort Hotel in Gabala. The competition drew on five young aspiring pianists from Azerbaijan, Russia, Croatia and Japan. Russian pianist Ilya Maksimov has won a Grand Prix. Croatian Qoran Filipets won first prize, another Russian pianist Alexandr Yakovlev second, Azerbaijani Togrul Huseynli has become forth, while Japanese Shimomura Misaco – the fifth. The third prize has been won by nobody.
Nargiz Kangarly (Azerbaijan) and Natalya Landfed (USA) were named as best performers of music by Azerbaijani composers.
Gabala International Piano Festival brought together 22 musicians from different countries, including 7 from Azerbaijan. Also the Festival will feature the Gala-concert today and mugham session tomorrow, August 21.
The festival will be closed on August 22.
