Saudi Arabia suspends the usage of Identity card for moving from

Jeddah, August 20, SPA -- In protest to a map of the United Arab
Emirates on the official UAE citizens identification card
contradicting the border agreement signed between the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia and the UAE 35 years ago, Riyadh passports authority
today announced that it has suspended the mechanism of using national
I.D.s for moving between the two countries.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Major General Salem bin
Mohammed Al-Bilaihed, said Saudi Arabia has raised the issue with
relevant UAE authorities at their highest levels, requesting that the
UAE corrects the map according to the bilateral border agreement
which was signed in 1974.
However, there was no response yet, he said, adding that the Kingdom
offers the United Arab Emirates 90 days of the date of its recent
notification to put the suspension decision into force according to
Article 4 of the joint communiqué.
Accordingly, citizens of either party who plan to travel to the
other should use their passports, Al-Bilaihed said.
