Albright to attend Kim's funeral as U.S. envoy

SEOUL, Aug. 21 (Yonhap) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will
attend the state funeral of late South Korean president Kim Dae-jung to be held
this weekend, a diplomatic source said Friday.
Albright will lead a delegation composed of about a dozen former and current U.S.
officials to the funeral, slated for Sunday at the National Assembly in Seoul,
added the source.
"The U.S. delegation is scheduled to arrive in Seoul on Saturday and return home
next Monday," the source said.
Albright served as Washington's top diplomat during the Bill Clinton administration.
China plans to send former state councilor and foreign minister Tang Jiaxuan to
the funeral, according to another source.
Japan announced earlier that it will send former House of Representatives Speaker
Yohei Kono as its envoy to Kim's funeral.
