N. Korean delegation may extend its stay in Seoul: minister
SEOUL, Aug. 22 (Yonhap) -- The North Korean delegation visiting South Korea to
mourn the death of late former president Kim Dae-jung may extend its stay here, a
Seoul minister said Saturday, hinting that the North Koreans may meet President
Lee Myung-bak later in the day.
Unification Minister Hyun In-taek said after a 90-minute meeting with his North
Korean counterpart Kim Yang-gon that "their return to North Korea may be
delayed."
The six-member team was originally scheduled to fly back to Pyongyang at 2 p.m.
on Saturday after a two-day stay.
An official at the South's presidential office said earlier that President Lee
may meet the delegates if they carry a message from the North's leader Kim
Jong-il.
