Pilgrims in Vailakanni fest to be screened for swine flu
Porayar(TN), Aug 24 (PTI) The district administration
here has decided to screen pilgrims for swine flu during the
11-day Vailankanni festival here starting from August 29.
Addressing an awareness programme on swine flu Sunday,
Nagapattinam district Collector C Munianathan said the
pilgrims from Maharashtra, Kerala, Goa and other states would
be screened at railway stations and bus stands.
Special screening teams would also be deployed at the
entrance of the town, he added.
Those suffering from cold and fever, will have to
undergo treatment and compulsorily wear mask, he said.
Auto drivers and staff of lodges have also been
instructed to intimate the authorities if they find anyone
with swine flu symptoms, he said.
A 20-bed ward has already been setup at Nagapattinam GH
for treating patients with swine flu symptoms and Vailankanni
Public Health centre has also been provided with additional
facilities, he added.
Stating that swine flu was a completely curable disease,
he called upon the people not to panic. PTI CORR
