POLICE SEAL JIBRIL'S ARRAHMAH.COM OFFICE

Tangerang, Banten, Aug 26 (ANTARA) - Police on Wednesday sealed the Arrahmah.com office in South Tangerang, Banten, West Java, following the arrest of its owner, Muhammad Jibril, for alleged involvement in last month's hotel bombings in Jakarta.

"The office belonging to Muhammad Jibril has been sealed by the police and this will certainly hinder the flow of information from the internet site to the public," Jibril's lawyer, Hariyadi Nasution, said.

He said the news service site was properly licensed. "So, it is strange that the police have closed the website while the documents permitting its operation are complete. What violation has been comitted in this case," he said.

Nasution said because the office had been closed the activity of Arrahmah.com was stopped for the time being.

While awaiting further developments in the case, he said, the lawyers' team would make enquiries regarding the status of Muhammad Jibril who was seized by four policemen in plain clothes in Pamulang, Tangeran, on Tuesday.

The chief editor of the Arrahmah.com, Fakhry, meanwhile said the police had confiscated several items from the office during the search.

"There were four CPUs, a laptop, several VCDs and important documents which the Densus 88 police officer have taken away," he said.

Muhammad Jibril's father, Abu Jibril, meanwhile said that the police had confiscated two laptops and some important documents during their search of his house in the Witanaharha III housing complex.

"The arrest of my son was engineered and the Densus has arrested the wrong man and taken a citizen's private belongings," he said.***3***
